I was born and raised in Belvidere, Illinois and all of my primary and secondary schooling was there. I was involved in several activities, and played tennis in high school.
After high school, I attended Illinois State University and earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design with a minor in Business. I worked in business/retail industry for three years.
.After working in retail, I found it wasn't for me, so I decided to go back and be a teacher--which had always been in the back of my mind! After attending NIU for 2 years, I received a B.S. in Education with an emphasis in Family and Consumer Sciences. I also earned a secondary endorsement in Business Education.
My first job teaching was at Belvidere High School in Belvidere, IL--my alma mater. I taught Foods, Fashion, Interior Design, Adult Living and Consumer Education. I also coached the boys and girls tennis team. It was a great way to be introduced to this amazing profession!!
After teaching in Belvidere for three years, I wanted to spread my wings, so I accepted a job at East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, IL. I taught Fashion, Interior Design, Medical Careers and Hotel and Travel and coached the girls tennis team.
While at East Leyden, I completed my Masters in Education from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbannais, IL
